Crowne Plaza London Albert Embankment, London, England

“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.”

Anonymous

I stayed in this hotel in July 2019, as a part of my business trip.

The Crowne Plaza London Albert Embankment offers amazing views over the River Thames, but please note that all rooms doesn’t have that view.

As an IHG member, I have stayed in different IHG hotels for both business and leisure. This was my first stay at Crowne Plaza group hotel under the IHG brand. This property seems to be relatively new.

Basically there are 2 resuarants here:

Potus and Mezemiso (Lebanese and Japanese dishes). The views from this restaurant is awesome.

Mezemiso is in the upper floor and there is a dedicated glass lift for reaching there.

Pros:

The decor is smart and the room is finished with a couple of modern fittings.

Main attractions like ‘House of Parliament’ is around 20 Min walk from this hotel.

The English breakfast was excellent. The breakfast spread was also good.

Gym facility is available.

The bathroom had a proper walk in shower.

Cons:

Rooms are a little small.

The tube station Vauxhal is a little far (15 min Walk) from the hotel.

Bathroom is slightly small.

There are restaurants available only in 15 min walking distance (in case if you want to avoid having food from hotel).

Brentford Lockwest Holiday INN, London, England

“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.”

Anonymous

I stayed in this hotel for a day in September 2019, as a part of my Business Trip to London.

Ideally I was supposed to stay in ‘Crowne Plaza London Ealing’ but at the time of check-in, I was told that my booking was not appearing in the system and the rooms were fully booked. As it was a mistake from the IHG group, they offered a night stay @ Brentford Lockwest Holiday INN instead of Crowne plaza.

Positives:

1) It’s about 10 mins walk from Brentford Station, or 30 mins from Boston Manor Underground station.

2) The hotel have an outside seating area opposite to the bar, perfect for the summer.

3) Hotel is situated beside the Gauging Lock which is pleasant to look down upon while sitting outside the room (not all rooms).

4) Heathrow Airport is around 10 miles (30 minutes by car).

5) There are meeting rooms available.

6) Couple of attractions like Kew Gardens, Twickenham Rugby station, and Syon Park are nearby this hotel.

7) The room and bathroom were clean.

8) Staff were pleasant and very helpful.

9) Breakfast spread was good.

10) Check-in Process was very easy.

11) Lounge facility was good.

Negatives:

1) Underground parking is available. Seems there is a parking charge involved (am not sure as I have not used the parking)

2) Gym Facility is available but comparatively small.

Crowne Plaza London – Ealing , England

I stayed in this hotel for a week in September 2019, as a part of my Business Trip to London.

Crowne Plaza London – Ealing hotel (4 Star with 139 rooms) is less than 3 miles from Wembley Stadium and Park Royal Business Centre.

Positives:

1) There is a full-fledged Gym (I think its accessible 24 Hours).

2) There is a full-fledged restaurant which serves breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Breakfast was included in my stay and the spread was excellent.

3) The hotel is next to Hanger Lane Tube station on the Central line, which is very convenient. There is a subway just in front of this hotel to reach the Tube station as well as the other roads.

4) A couple of small restaurants/take away counters (like pizza shops) are available near by the hotel, in case if you want to avoid the hotel restaurant.

5) It’s around 11 Miles (30 minutes in car) to the Heathrow Airport.

6) A small Bar counter is also available within the hotel.

7) Enterprise rent a car facility is available in the neighbourhood.

8) The hotel room and bathroom were clean and neat. Both tub and shower option were available in my room.

9) Free Wi-Fi was available.

10) There are around 5 meeting rooms available here, with the largest room having a capacity of 85 people. Seems digital projector and wireless microphones are provided in the meeting rooms.

11) The Lounge is good with TV, Internet and printer facilities.

12) They had done a beautiful gesture by keeping a lot of cut fruits in my room. I was surprised to see the quantity of fruits on the plate.

Negatives:

1) I am IHG platinum member. During the check-in time (around 12:30 PM), I was told that my booking was not appearing in the system (even though it was prebooked) and the rooms were fully booked. As it was a mistake from the IHG group, they offered a night stay @ Brentford Lockwest Holiday INN (20 Minutes by car) for that night. The To and Fro Transportation was also arranged by the hotel. I have stayed in many of the IHG hotels in different countries, but never faced a similar situation elsewhere. From Trip advisor, I understand that this has happened with multiple people. So, I believe it will be good to call and talk to the reception in case if you are planning a late checkin.

2) Paid parking is available (12£ per night).

3) Please note that this is not a hotel in City Center or Airport.

Holiday Inn Heathrow 5, London, England

“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.”

The Holiday Inn London – Heathrow T5 has 119 guest rooms. I stayed in this hotel for a week in October 2019, as a part of my Business Trip to London.

Even though its projected as an Airport hotel, I wouldn’t really agree to that. It’s around 4 miles (10-15 minutes by car) from Heathrow Airport. The hotel name is slightly misleading (don’t book this hotel considering that it’s in a walkable distance from the airport).

Positives:

1) In case if you want to avoid taking a cab (taxis might charge between 20-25 GBP) from airport, you can look for ‘HotelHoppa’ (runs every 30 minutes) option.

Website: https://www.hotelhoppa.co.uk/

You will find platforms (like 17) outside the airport terminal.

2) Gym Facility is available.

3) Breakfast buffet with English and continental choices is available. Seems lunch and dinner are also served here. But in case if you want to have food outside, there are very limited options. I found ‘Fat Boys Café’ within 100m from the hotel (breakfast and lunch).

4) It’s located in the historic village of Colnbrook, the home of the third oldest Pub in England.

5) The hotel is in a very calm (no much air traffic noise aswell) residential area.

6) Seems, Kids of ages 17 and under stay for free when sharing their parents’ room.

7) There is an open Lobby near the reception area.

8) The room is slightly small. Compared to the price paid, I think it’s still a decent room size.

9) The staff was friendly.

10) Seems Legoland is quite nearby (around 5 miles).

Negatives:

1) Hotel is slightly away from Heathrow Airport (around 4 miles / 10-15 Minutes).

2) There is no pool facility available.

3) Pets are not allowed in this hotel.

4) This is one of the options that many airlines (like British Airways) considers to accomodate their passengers in case if they have a cancelled or delayed flight. In such scenarios, waiting time for the restaurant service will be higher, as the dining space is limited.
