We had the pleasure of staying at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam during our trip to the Netherlands. Located at Paul van Vlissingenstraat 24, Oost, 1096 BK Amsterdam, this 4-star property offers a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the city.

First Impressions:
The Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam is a large, modern hotel with 18 floors and 490 rooms. The hotel is located just outside the Overamstel metro stop (about a 2-minute walk, or 50 meters away). The hotel’s location makes it easy to get to Amsterdam’s main attractions, including the Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Conference Centre and Schiphol Airport. The lobby makes a great first impression. The towering ceilings of the lobby greet you with abundant natural daylight, and the on-trend artworks and furnishing.

Getting There:
The hotel is conveniently located approximately 16 km from Schiphol Airport.
The Overamstel metro stop is a short walk from the hotel’s front door. From there, it takes about 18 minutes to reach Amsterdam Central Station via Metro M51. Tickets can be purchased from the vending machine near the station entrance. Keep in mind that there are quite a few steps to navigate between the hotel and the metro, which may be challenging with large luggage or strollers.
NOTE: There is also another line M50, which also passes through Overamstel station.

The Rooms:
The room was well-appointed, featuring air-conditioning, a private bathroom, a work desk and modern amenities such as free WiFi and a flat-screen TV. We had a great view from our large window.

Check-in/Check-out:
Check-in time at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam is from 15:00, and check-out is until 12:00.
Dining:
The hotel features one large restaurant where all meals are served (Dining LEO’s International Flavors – Restaurant and Bar).

Pros:
Convenient Location: The hotel’s proximity to the Overamstel metro station makes it easy to explore Amsterdam.
Excellent Breakfast: The breakfast buffet (included in our stay) was outstanding, with a wide variety of options including pastries, omelettes, smoothies, various teas and coffees, cereals, sausage, bacon, eggs, yogurts, donuts, and fresh fruits.
Well-Equipped Rooms: The room was nicely decorated with a large window and a great view.

Friendly Service: The service at the reception and restaurant was very friendly.
Welcome Gift: During check-in, the hotel gave a complimentary doll to our kids, which made them very happy.

Spacious Bathroom: The bathroom was of decent size and had a lovely shower.

Additional Amenities: The hotel offers bicycle rental, a sauna, a fitness centre, and a spa.

Luggage Storage: The hotel provides a luggage room for storing luggage.
Water Filling Station: There’s a water filling station downstairs by the elevators, eliminating the need to buy bottled water.

Cons:
Slightly Away from City Centre: The hotel is a bit outside the city centre, but the metro provides easy access.
Limited Nearby Dining: There aren’t many eating places within walking distance.
Paid Parking: The hotel has parking in the building, but it comes at an additional cost.
Taxi Costs: A taxi to Amsterdam Central can be expensive (around 40-50 euros).
Final Thoughts:
Overall, our stay at the Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam was enjoyable. The location is convenient for accessing the city’s attractions via the metro, and the hotel itself offers comfortable rooms and excellent amenities.
We would recommend this hotel to travellers looking for a modern and well-equipped base for their Amsterdam adventure.
